New YorkLife Foundation is one of 4-H’s newest corporate partners!

4-H has a long tradition of providing community-based 4-H clubs for youth to work alongside of adults to learn new skills, organize community service activities, and to strengthen leadership skills.  With a $500,000 grant from the New York Life Foundation, 4-H is forming 40 New York Life Youth in Governance 4-H Clubs in underserved areas throughout New York and Georgia. New York Life Foundation has also provided scholarships for youth to attend Citizenship Washington Focus – a 4-H citizenship skills program that takes place in Washington, DC every summer.

CWF is a civic education and leadership program that has been organized by National 4-H Council every summer since 1963. 4-H delegates from across the country broaden their appreciation and respect for themselves and others in the world through civic workshops, committees, field trips and social events. Participants learn and practice skills intended to make them better citizens and successful individuals.  More than 2,000 youth from across the nation attended CWF in 2006.

“The New York Life Foundation’s support allows 4-H to make a positive impact on the lives of youth in communities where it is really needed,” said Donald T. Floyd Jr., president and chief executive officer of National 4-H Council. “By empowering youth to serve in leadership roles and teaching them new skills, they can work to improve their communities for the future.”

The New York Life Foundation is the major vehicle through which New York Life Insurance Company channels contributions to national and local nonprofit organizations.  Through its Nurturing the Children initiative, the Foundation supports organizations, programs and services that target young people, particularly in the areas of mentoring, safe places to learn and grow, and educational enhancement opportunities.
